JOTA/JOTI is an annual event in which about 500,000 Scouts and Guides all over the world make contact with each other by means of amateur radio and over the Internet. It is a real Jamboree during which Scouting experiences are exchanged and ideas are shared, thus contributing to the world brotherhood of Scouting.

The JOTA/JOTI is a worldwide event.
It is for all members of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), and members of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).

This event is Free to all Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Venturers and their parents and leaders courtesy of the Columbia Area Radio Club and BSA Troop 91.

The Columbia Amateur Radio Club and Boy Scout Troop 91 will host the event at Seven Oaks Presbyterian Church, located 1/4 mile off I-26 (Exit 106A ) St Andrews Rd. across from the St. Andrews Cinema. Bathrooms and other amenities are available. If your unit wishes to set up a shade fly there is room for that in the field next to the parking lot.

Please sign up so we know what time your Scouts are coming.



Priority will be given to the units that register in advance.

Drop-ins are welcome, however you may not get to talk with other US or International Scouts if you do not sign up.


JOTA CARDS/Certificates
Troop 91 and CARC will have some of the JOTA participation cards available for units and individuals who register (in order of registration). Or you may order your own. The JOTA cards are free and available to anyone participating. The card is a good place to record some of the contacts made during JOTA, and it is a certificate of participation. They may be ordered beforehand for presentation during JOTA or they may be awarded later at Scout meetings. Send requests specifying the number of cards needed to Boy Scouts of America, Jamboree-on-the- Internet Cards, S221, 1325 West Walnut Hill Lane, P.O. Box 152079, Irving, TX 75015-2079.
Participation Certificates/Cards are free, but are not guaranteed as there are a limited supply and will be allocated to units in order of registration. We will try our best to have certificates for the participants.

BSA 2008 POCKET PATCHES
Units may order the BSA 2008 JOTA patch by mail. This temporary insignia to wear on the right pocket of the Scout uniform or on jackets/vests will be available by mail order only from BSA for $4 each (total). This insignia, like the certificate cards, will be available in LIMITED QUANTITY only and will not be reordered when supplies are exhausted. ORDER EARLY. Allow FOUR weeks for delivery on all orders. Send requests specifying the number of patches and full payment to Boy Scouts of America, Jamboree-on-the- Internet Cards, S221, 1325 West Walnut Hill Lane, P.O. Box 152079, Irving, TX 75015-2079. Checks or money orders (no cash) will be accepted and must be made payable to the Boy Scouts of America. All orders must be received by the BSA by December 31, 2008. Orders for patches are to be sent to the same address as for the cards.
Troop 91 and CARC may not have patches available. Please order your own to be sure that you have enough for your unit.
